The Customer Risk Assessment team is at the absolute core of this effort. We are building the centralized platform that gives Wise deep visibility into any customer and their associated financial crime (fincrime) risk. By tying together all fincrime topologies into a unified view, we empower teams to make fast, accurate decisions. Your mission will be to help build out this centralized platform, tying complex risk signals together while also owning the common components of risk mitigation. You will directly impact how Wise scales its compliance operations, enabling us to move with speed and confidence without ever compromising on the safety of our customers. How we work: We’re a cross-functional team of backend and frontend engineers working hand-in-hand with Product Managers, Analysts, and Designers. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. What will you be working on?: You’ll be having a real-world impact by building the systems that enable Wise to evaluate customer risk globally. Specifically, you will: Build the full stack: Design, develop, and deploy resilient backend microservices in Java (Spring Boot) and build intuitive, accessible frontends using React and TypeScript. Create a 360-degree risk view: Build the centralized tools that aggregate data across multiple fincrime topologies, giving our teams full visibility into customer risk profiles. Drive risk mitigation: Own and develop the common components of our risk mitigation handling, ensuring our Servicing Agents have scalable, standardized workflows. Scale operations: Break down complex bottlenecks in our servicing and compliance processes, delivering adaptable platform solutions that other Wise product teams can evolve to fit their specific needs. Take ownership: Take full ownership of the product journey—from identifying a problem and empathizing with stakeholders, to creating an execution plan and shipping it to production. Qualifications What do you need?: Solid Backend Experience: You have a strong engineering background ideally in Java (familiarity with the Spring Boot stack) with years of experience putting scalable microservices into production and maintaining them in a cloud-based environment. Frontend Skills: You have experience building performant, responsive web applications using React and TypeScript/JavaScript. High Coding Standards: You are well-versed in writing clean, scalable, and testable code. You understand test coverage best practices, the test pyramid concept, and the value of code reviews. Systems Architecture Knowledge: You have experience designing and implementing distributed, concurrent systems and understand the tradeoffs between stateful/stateless and synchronous/asynchronous architectures. We are looking for a powerhouse video editor & motion designer who lives and breathes post-production—someone who can take raw footage and UI captures and transform them into sharp, high-converting, and visually stunning video assets. While your core craft is in the edit suite—bringing videos to life through seamless pacing, advanced motion graphics, and sophisticated visual polish—you also possess the artistic eye and director’s touch to step behind the camera when needed. A bonus is knowing how to light a room, frame a perfect shot, and direct on-camera talent so the raw footage you start with is top-tier. You can take an approved script and raw footage and turn it into something polished and sharp, with real ownership over the creative choices in between. This role will play a key part in building and improving accounting processes through automation while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP.</p> <p>This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys both technical accounting and leveraging technology to improve finance operations.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <p><strong>Accounting & Month-End Close</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.</li> <li>Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts.</li> <li>Prepare, review, and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.</li> <li>Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled accurately and timely.</li> <li>Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.</li> <li>Partner cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial reporting.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting</strong></p> <ul> <li>Research and apply U.S. GAAP guidance to complex accounting transactions.</li> <li>Develop and maintain formal accounting policies and procedures.</li> <li>Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.</li> <li>Support revenue recognition, lease accounting, inventory valuation, and other technical accounting matters.</li> <li>Prepare financial analyses and variance explanations for leadership.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Audit & Internal Controls</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary accounting contact for external auditors.</li> <li>Coordinate audit requests and prepare supporting documentation.</li> <li>Maintain strong internal controls and accounting documentation.</li> <li>Continuously improve accounting processes to strengthen compliance and reduce risk.</li> <li>Ensure the organization remains audit-ready throughout the year.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Systems & Process Improvement</strong></p> <ul> <li>Identify opportunities to automate accounting workflows and eliminate manual processes.</li> <li>Utilize technology, AI tools, and data analytics to improve efficiency.</li> <li>Partner with internal technology teams to improve accounting systems and reporting.</li> <li>Support integrations between financial systems and operational platforms.</li> <li>Contribute to the ongoing development of scalable finance infrastructure.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Leadership</strong></p> <ul> <li>Act as the Controller's second-in-command and trusted business partner.</li> <li>Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership.</li> <li>Mentor future accounting team members and establish best practices.</li> <li>Lead special projects and process improvement initiatives as the company grows.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.</li> <li>5+ years of progressive accounting experience.</li> <li>Strong experience managing the month-end close process.</li> <li>Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.</li> <li>Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.</li> <li>Experience supporting external audits.</li> <li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.</li> <li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>CPA certification or active CPA candidate.</li> <li>Experience with high-growth startup or technology companies.</li> <li>Automotive, dealership, retail, or inventory accounting experience.</li> <li>Experience using ERP or accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms.</li> <li>Experience with SQL, Python, data automation, or reporting tools.</li> <li>Familiarity with Git, APIs, or AI-assisted workflow tools is a plus.</li> <li>Experience building scalable accounting processes and internal controls.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compensation & Benefits</strong></p> <p><strong>Base Salary:</strong> $165,000 – $200,000 annually, depending on experience</p> <p>In addition, Ever offers:</p> <ul> <li>Equity opportunity</li> <li>Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance</li> <li>401(k)</li> <li>Paid Time Off</li> <li>Career development and growth opportunities</li> <li>Opportunity to help build a rapidly growing technology-driven company</li> </ul> <p><strong>Ever is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</strong> We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all employees.
