The role We’re looking for a FinCrime Quality Team Lead to join our growing team. Quality Assurance Senior Lead - AML Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money. As the Quality Assurance Senior Team Lead, your role is to set the QA strategy for the AML domain, deliver against plans and KPIs, and build a credible, trusted team. You will use your subject matter expertise to ensure the accuracy, validity, and value of all QA outcomes. You will drive continuous improvement and partner with wider business stakeholders to deliver actionable insights that improve quality and champion a culture of risk management. Your Responsibilities: Area Leadership & People Management: Lead by example with a customer and risk-proportionate mindset. Coach and develop a high-performing QA team, delivering initiatives to grow their skills and managing succession plans for senior leads. Operational & Performance Management: Take accountability for the AML QA area’s delivery against KPIs and objectives. Identify process improvements, monitor resource allocation, and refine standard operating procedures to scale operations. Expertise Sharing: Act as a subject matter expert in AML policy, Quality Assurance and risk management. Validate complex case outcomes, lead audit interactions, and assist the Compliance team in evolving internal procedures. Planning & Execution: Own the QA strategy, including sampling methodology, test scripts, and scorecards. Manage forecast demand and capacity plans to ensure KPIs and SLAs are consistently achieved. Stakeholder Management: Build constructive relationships with Operational Leaders. Translate QA data into a compelling narrative to communicate complex topics in an engaging way and influence business change. Qualifications About you: Experienced Leader: 4+ years of proven leadership experience in operations or compliance, with at least 2 years leading a medium-sized organisation (20-40 people). Domain Experience: +3 years of AML experience working in the financial services sector. Compliance Expert: Advanced knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to AML, with a deep understanding of global regulatory frameworks in financial services or payments. Data-Driven: Ability to use analytics to manage your domain, move team metrics, and translate data into trends that influence continuous improvement. Tech Forward: A promoter of AI literacy, identifying opportunities for automation and AI within the QA process to improve efficiency. Great Communicator: Fluent in English with the ability to clearly communicate complex topics and influence senior stakeholders. Problem Solver: Ability to challenge ways of working, critically assess data, and manage challenges before they escalate. The role The High Risk Assessment Senior Lead is responsible for overseeing multiple High Risk Assessment Team Leads and their respective specialist teams. The High Risk Assessment team is responsible for mitigating risks associated with high risk customers. This area has a strong focus on maintaining compliance with AML/CFT regulations, and internal policies according to Wise’s risk appetite. You will need to ensure that your team is consistently delivering high-quality investigations and promote high quality compliance standards across the organization. Responsibilities Area Leadership Lead by example and drive a customer focused mindset across your team as well as the wider organization. Promote a culture of ownership and accountability. Enable your teams to become high-performing through coaching, continuous development, and succession plans for senior leads. People management Coach and develop a strong team of High Risk Assessment Team Leads. Come up with initiatives to help your team to grow their skills, behaviors, and competencies. Design and manage development plans on identified opportunities. Conducts career map check-ins and makes recommendations for promotions, salary raises, and other decisions. Operational management Be accountable for your Area operations. Identify and propose opportunities for process improvements. Collaborate with central functions and other operational teams as needed to increase automation and operational efficiency. Monitor team resource allocation and refine standard operating procedures to improve the ways we work. Performance management Measure group wide KPIs and ensure that your team leads as well as their direct reports meet performance targets and quality standards. Drive the initiatives and KPIs of your area with the organisation’s strategic vision. Provide regular coaching and work with your direct reports to inspire them and improve their leadership skills. Act as a key escalation point for issues that cannot be resolved by team leads. Be an advocate for the company values, our long term strategic goals and promote them across the KYC organization. Expertise Sharing Be a subject matter expert in KYC and financial crime areas with the ability to train and coach your team on operational topics. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of our regulatory obligations, internal policies. Apply a risk-based approach to deterring and preventing money laundering and financial crime. Able to represent your teams’ investigative work to internal auditors and senior leadership. Stay up to date on new regulations and ensure that your team follows best practices across their investigations. Planning and execution Ensure operational team plans are set in place and provide insights to other stakeholders. Take full accountability in delivering your own initiatives and making sure your group is making progress on their goals. There is a clear strategy within your domain that is connected with the wider organisational key objectives. Stakeholder management and communication Lead and oversee complex, cross-team initiatives that involve multiple stakeholders. Set strategic priorities, allocate resources effectively, and ensure that key initiatives are delivered on time. You are able to communicate complex topics in an easy to understand and engaging way. Be an ambassador of Wise Culture and passionate advocate for Customer Success. Qualifications Excellent verbal and written English skills (additional language skills are a plus) with the ability to clearly articulate your thoughts. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in KYC/AML, financial crime, compliance, or a related field within the financial services industry. At least 3 years of leading small to medium sized teams . Advanced understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding KYC/AML. You are familiar with money laundering methods and other financial crime trends. You can build an environment where your team is incentivised to make decisions and apply a risk-based approach to their work. You are punctual, independent, proactive and willing to get things done. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, great time management, and ability to work in a fast paced and high pressure environment. Ability to multi-task and take responsibility in challenging situations. You are capable of identifying gaps in policies and processes and providing detailed feedback, including examples when possible, through the established communication channels. Proven track record of taking individual ownership and responsibilities as well as being a great team-player. Ability to independently analyze and move the team’s metrics without external support Nice to have: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or related field. Certifications: ICA, CAMS, or equivalent certification (EDD/AML focused). Experience in using Business Intelligence tools such as Looker, Superset, Redash or Microtab. The role We’re looking for a Lead Data Analyst who is passionate about our mission of Money Without Borders to partner with our operational teams to help drive data-driven decisions that would support our fast-growing product through scaling and optimising the team. As a Lead Data Analyst, you'll be driving our analytics efforts in our operations teams, who do everything from support our customers when they need help, to screening for criminal activity, to verifying customer identities at scale. KPI Implementation and Target Setting. Lead the development and implementation of the operations KPI tree and the target-setting framework, integrating these within reporting pipelines and strategic operations. Stakeholder Collaboration and Process Standardisation. Collaborate closely with various stakeholders to standardise processes across forecasting, scheduling, and real-time operations, promoting continuous improvement and strategic alignment. Ideally, you have a background in statistics, maths, physics, engineering, economics, or another scientific field. You apply first-principles thinking to break down complex operational problems. You enjoy applying that rigor to messy, real-world operational data to separate signal from noise.
