We specialize in commissioning, startup, and technical support of mission-critical systems, deploying skilled teams to meet the demands of complex, fast-moving projects.

Position Overview

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) is the hands-on project leader for assigned data center commissioning, startup, and service projects. The TPM owns project-specific stakeholder communication, execution planning, schedule, risk, issue resolution, commercial protection, billing readiness, and closeout from mobilization through customer acceptance.

Success in this role depends first on exceptional communication, sound judgment, de-escalation skill, and the ability to build alignment across customers, field teams, OEM partners, and internal functions. The TPM must remain composed during high-pressure situations, translate complex information clearly, and lead difficult conversations toward practical resolution. A technical background is strongly preferred and should enable the TPM to understand field conditions, ask effective questions, and communicate credibly with technical stakeholders.

Core Success Profile

Exceptional communicator: delivers clear, timely, audience-appropriate updates in writing, meetings, and one-on-one conversations.

Skilled de-escalator: remains calm under pressure, listens actively, separates facts from emotion, and moves conflict toward an actionable resolution.

Collaborative leader: builds trust across functions, clarifies ownership, and brings the right people together without creating silos or unnecessary handoffs.

Hands-on project owner: stays close to project details, anticipates risk, follows commitments through closure, and remains accountable after escalation.

Technically credible: understands or can quickly learn data center field execution, commissioning workflows, and mission-critical equipment sufficiently to support sound project decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Communication & De-escalation

Serve as the primary hands-on project management contact for assigned projects and maintain consistent communication with customers, general contractors, commissioning agents, OEM representatives, site leadership, and internal teams.

Lead project meetings and difficult conversations with clear agendas, accurate status, documented decisions, assigned actions, and timely follow-through.

Recognize emerging conflict early; listen to stakeholder concerns, clarify facts and expectations, reduce tension, and develop a mutually understood path forward.

Communicate technical, schedule, resource, and commercial impacts clearly without overpromising, assigning blame, or allowing issues to remain ambiguous.

Escalate at the appropriate time and level while retaining ownership of project impact, stakeholder communication, tracking, and final resolution.

Project Execution & Control

Manage multiple active projects or sites from pre-mobilization through turnover and closeout.

Establish and maintain the project execution plan, master schedule, milestones, dependencies, site-readiness requirements, ROMP sequencing, and short-term look-ahead plan.

Identify project risks early, establish mitigation and recovery actions, and drive issues through documented closure.

Maintain accurate project status, action logs, risk and issue logs, decision records, deliverables, and stakeholder commitments.

Coordinate quality requirements, punch-list completion, turnover documentation, customer acceptance, lessons learned, and formal closeout.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with Sales Project Managers to ensure continuity from commercial handoff through field execution and closeout.

Partner with Production Coordinators and Project Controls Coordinators on resource visibility, mobilization readiness, documentation, reporting, data accuracy, and follow-up.

Work closely with Field Operations Managers on technician availability, qualifications, field constraints, and personnel matters while respecting Field Operations ownership of people management and final staffing decisions.

Partner with OEM Program Managers on systemic equipment issues, manufacturer alignment, technical standards, and program-level escalations while retaining ownership of project-specific impact and communication.

Engage Site Leads as critical field-execution partners, maintaining two-way communication and ensuring field realities are reflected in project plans and stakeholder updates.

Resource, Commercial & Billing Management

Define project resource requirements, timing, qualifications, and duration; communicate demand early and manage schedule or customer impacts when constraints arise.

Track project performance, labor utilization, travel, materials, forecast versus actual results, and potential cost or margin exposure.

Manage scope changes, delays, acceleration requests, rework, and out-of-scope activity; ensure impacts are documented and appropriate authorization or change orders are obtained.

Protect F6 from unauthorized work, untracked labor, unsupported commitments, and avoidable commercial exposure.

Ensure billing readiness through accurate field records, signed documentation, milestone acceptance, T&M support, quantities, and approved change documentation.

Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement

Promote a safety-first execution culture and ensure project plans align with company, customer, and site safety requirements.

Address safety or quality concerns promptly and coordinate the appropriate operational or technical response.

Identify repeatable improvements to communication, planning, project controls, escalation, and closeout processes as the organization scales.

Required Qualifications

Five or more years of project management experience in field service, construction, commissioning, or another complex multi-stakeholder environment.

Demonstrated success serving as the primary project contact and leading customer, contractor, field, and executive-level communication.

Proven ability to de-escalate conflict, manage difficult conversations, and create alignment during high-pressure or ambiguous situations.

Strong collaboration skills and a track record of influencing outcomes across teams without relying solely on direct authority.

Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, schedules, risks, budgets, documentation, and stakeholder commitments.

Strong written communication, meeting leadership, organization, prioritization, and follow-through.

Working knowledge of time-and-material and milestone-based billing, change management, and commercial documentation.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, project tracking tools, and field service or project management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical background in data centers, HVAC, electrical systems, controls, commissioning, startup, or other mission-critical infrastructure.

Experience supporting data center owners, general contractors, commissioning agents, OEMs, and field service teams.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service or a comparable field service platform.

Project management certification or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Role Boundaries & Accountability

The TPM may delegate individual tasks, but not project ownership. Field Operations owns people leadership, performance, development, discipline, employee relations, and final staffing decisions. OEM Program Managers own program-level manufacturer relationships and systemic product issues. Coordinators support planning, tracking, documentation, and follow-up. The TPM remains accountable for integrating these functions into a complete project plan and for managing the resulting schedule, customer, risk, communication, and commercial impacts through closure.

Work Environment & Expectations

This is a primarily work-from-home position requiring frequent communication across distributed teams, customers, project sites, and time zones. The TPM must remain highly accessible and actively engaged throughout project execution.

Remote status does not change the expectation that the TPM will provide hands-on project leadership, lead stakeholder communication, manage escalations, and maintain detailed awareness of assigned projects.

Travel to project sites, customer meetings, and critical project events is required based on project needs, including on short notice when an onsite presence is necessary to support execution, strengthen stakeholder alignment, or resolve significant issues.

Fast-paced, high-growth environment requiring composure, adaptability, urgency, accuracy, and strong personal ownership.

Ability to manage competing priorities and remain accessible during critical project events or escalations.

What Success Looks Like

Clear communication. Stakeholders receive accurate information early, understand the plan, and know who owns each next action.

Constructive resolution. Conflict is addressed professionally before it damages execution or customer trust.

Shared accountability. Cross-functional teams work from one plan with clear responsibilities, decisions, and commitments.

Reliable delivery. Projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within scope, commercially protected, and to customer expectations.

Visible ownership. The TPM is recognized as a credible, responsive, hands-on leader who owns the complete project outcome.

Employment practices will not be influenced or affected by an applicant’s or employee’s race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran status or any other legally protected status. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities unless doing so would result in an undue hardship.

Salary ranges listed are dependent upon a candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the specific role and location.
